There's something about Maine that gets under your skin and stays there. Even though I haven't been back in a decade, those three trips I took — two with my wife, one with my daughter — still fuel every brushstroke when I paint these coastal Maine landscapes.

The first town that really captured me was Stonington, Maine. And let me tell you, Stonington isn't your typical postcard tourist destination. Off the beaten track and loaded with the type of scenery I enjoy painting — weathered boats, working waterfronts, and a rugged coastline that doesn't try to look pretty for anybody.
