An interior still life doesn't have to be a perfectly arranged collection of objects, bro.

In this 18-minute loose acrylic painting tutorial, I'm exploring a simple room with a table, chairs, cups, and bottles. We begin with a vertical composition, establish some basic shapes, and gradually build an expressive interior using colorful grays, shifting light, and spontaneous brushwork.

And when something isn't working? We change it. Chairs move, edges disappear, and the original composition becomes a suggestion rather than a set of rules.

**The original composition isn't sacred.**

Chairs get moved. Shapes disappear. Colors change. I use scrap paper to smear wet paint, soften edges, and introduce unexpected textures.

After drying the first layer, I return with brighter colors, a loose pattern on the tablecloth, and a few highlights to bring the cups and bottle forward.

Some areas become more defined. Others stay wonderfully abstract.

The key is learning to respond to what's happening on the surface rather than forcing everything to match the original sketch.

**What to explore in this lesson:**

- Building a vertical still life composition
- Using warm and cool grays to establish atmosphere
- Creating the illusion of light through color and value
- Simplifying objects instead of painting every detail
- Smearing, lifting, and layering acrylic paint
- Making bold compositional changes while painting

Remember, you're allowed to change your mind. If a chair isn't working, move it. If an area feels too busy, simplify it.

**Learn Structure. Paint Loose.**

Construct. Deconstruct. Explore. Repeat.
